Business-to-business communications firm NetWorld Alliance LLC plans to use state incentives to help it launch a new online publication.
Jeff Cummins, senior vice president for finance at NetWorld Alliance, said the new publication — focused on news about mobile payments — would create 10 jobs with a combined annual payroll of $453,440. The average hourly wage would be $15.93.
Those positions would be in editorial and sales, Cummins said.
The new site, MobilePaymentsToday.com, would provide news, webinars, supplier listings, research and other information related to mobile payment technologies.
“Soon, you’ll be paying for everything with your cell phone,” Cummins said. “The mobile pie is pretty big right now, so this is our usual approach of taking our little niche piece.”
Company will expand into adjacent space
The Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority granted preliminary approval for $200,000 in incentives for NetWorld Alliance over 10 years at its Feb. 24 meeting.
Cummins said the company currently has 49 employees. The company occupies about 10,000 square feet on Eastpoint Park Boulevard.
With the hiring of 10 new employees, the company likely would expand into an adjacent 1,500 square feet, he said. The project is expected to require an investment of $451,000, according to the company’s filing with the state.
New industry publications likely to follow
NetWorld Alliance was founded in 2000 and currently produces online publications about self-service technology, such as kiosks; retail customer experience; and restaurant topics, including pizza, fast-casual dining and fast food.
Cummins said the mobile payments portal is in testing and will launch officially on March 15.
“Our plan is to add a portal or two a year over the next three to four years,” he said. He declined to provide details on the topics of the new sites.
