Hundreds of restaurant execs will kick off the annual summit by making over 2,000 sandwiches to help feed those in need in South Carolina.
My favorite part of the annual Restaurant Franchising and Innovation Summit is the giveback party we host to kick off the event. Over the past seven years, event attendees, sponsors and speakers have collected donations and physically put together hygiene kits, made sandwiches, stocked apples and auctioned items to help several charities across the country.
This year’s theme, “Spread the Goodness” is going to be a little messy, and I’m betting a lot of fun. (Register here for the summit, March 11-13, in Myrtle Beach.)
Are you ready for it?
That’s because over 350 executives will have one hour to make as many peanut butter and jelly sandwiches as possible for the Community Kitchen of Myrtle Beach, whose tradition for the past 33 years has been to feed the hungry at NO COST to guests.
The Community Kitchen is incredibly grateful for the thousands of sandwiches that are being made and donated to us through this event,” said Sean Mazur, executive director of Community Kitchen of Myrtle Beach. “In 2024, our Children’s Hunger Initiative Program Program provided a record number of 131,055 meals and snacks to the children in our community. Our General Feeding Program provided over 93,203 meals to those who came to us who were hungry for a combined total of 224,258 meals & snacks in 2024. All of what we do is only possible because of good people like yourselves making a difference.”
Our goal
The goal is to make at least 2,000 sandwiches, which is the number we made in 2019 at a similar event in Louisville. Restaurant people are overachievers, so I expect us to beat that goal!
Wanna be like Ovation and Marqii?
If you want to help cover the costs of the sandwich supplies — like two of our event sponsors, Ovation and Marqii — we would appreciate all the help we can get. Donations will cover bread, peanut butter, jelly, spreading utensils, gloves, baggies and transportation costs. Click here to donate.
Your logo will be listed on all marketing collateral, in stories and on social media posts about the event.
We can’t wait to see you at the Beach!
