The annual Summit has gained a following as a global brainstorming session for everyone and everything having to do with self-service technology.

If you’re excited about all the innovation taking place in self service and you want to be on the “leading edge,” don’t miss the Self-Service Innovation Summit, Dec. 4-6 in Miami.

Now in its fourth year, the annual Summit has gained a following as a global brainstorming session for everyone and everything having to do with self-service technology. This year’s event will be held at the Loews Coral Gables, Florida.

Whether you’re a retailer looking for more engaging customer interaction, a technology provider wanting to find players to partner with, an airline executive interested in finding out what tools players in other channels are testing, the Summit is where it’s happening.

The Summit offers a highly informal setting where attendees can hear keynote presentations from industry experts involved in game changing developments, check out new technology in the exhibit hall, attend panel discussions on critical industry issues as well as networking events.

Networking success stories

Every year, Summit exhibitors and attendees alike have made helpful contacts and discoveries in the fast-changing self-service technology universe.

Ask Alejandro Rodriguez, founder and CEO of Pharmabox, which dispenses over-the-counter pharmacy products and also allows the customer to order products online that are not in the machine.

At last year’s Summit, Rodriguez discovered a device that continuously connects power and automatically reboots in the event of a connectivity loss: Switch Always On from Smart Charging Technologies.

Ask Teddy Sanchez and Michele Lee, co-founders of Optimal Station, a company that develops self-service machines for automated retail, inventory control and event marketing.

At the 2021 Summit, Sanchez and Lee came across a device that offers age verification with a two-step process that does not require a download from CAV Solution Ltd., an Estonia-based startup.

Keynotes and panel sessions

One of this year’s keynotes will feature Mike Abecassis, founder and CEO of GameTime, a Miami-based mega arcade and sports bar, and General Vending Service, on his ongoing technology journey.

Education sessions are once again offered in two simultaneous tracks — kiosks and vending.

This year’s kiosk topics include: check-in kiosks, blue ribbon customer service for unattended retail, what’s the latest in innovation, how to fine-tune unattended cashless payments and helping employees meet customer needs with technology.

Vending topics include: meeting customer expectations for micro markets and vending, controlling product shrink in micro markets, making the vending/micro market experience foolproof, creating winning private label products and finding good help.

Automation & Self-Service Awards

Not to be missed are the Automation & Self-Service Awards, formerly the Self-Service Innovation Awards, the official awards of the Self-Service Innovation Summit and AutomationAndSelfService.com.

Nominations are still being accepted for the awards honoring innovators in the advancement of automation and self-service technologies, including vending, kiosks, robotics and artificial intelligence.

New technology

Leading edge technology players who will be on hand to discuss their latest innovations include 365 Retail Markets, Code Factory SL, Ingenico Inc., Kiosk Information Systems, OptConnect, NayaxBurroughsZebra TechnologiesDPL, Granite, MONEXgroup, Ventus Wireless LLC,friendlyway and VE Solutions, with more to come!

The Summit will once again conclude with an executive roundtable on what’s in store for the future from industry thought leaders.

As the world has emerged from the pandemic and economies are on an uptick, self service is expanding at a fast pace, thanks to e-commerce, “phygital” innovation, artificial intelligence, machine learning, edge technology, biometric verification and more.
